프로이트(Sigmund Freud, 1856-1939)는 인간의 무의식을 가장 인문학적인 방식으로 풀어낸 철학자다. 그에게 선과 악은 대립이 아닌 공존, 같은 뿌리를 지닌 생명 안에서 상생하는 쌍둥이었다. 서로를 영원히 찾고 밀어내는, 한계없는 긴장 관계에 놓인 둘이다. 선&악의 숙명적인 다툼으로 소진된 자아는 스스로를 상처 안으로 가둔다. 포르테서울의 개관전 ≪ Affliction Addict 상처 중독≫은, 뒤주에 갇힌 숭고한 자아에게 안부를 묻기 위함이다.

To Sigmund Freud (1856–1939), good and evil were not opposites but coexistences—twins sharing the same root within a single life, locked in an endless tension of seeking and repelling one another. The self, exhausted by this fated struggle between good and evil, confines itself inside a wound.
